What are e-donations?
E-donation is short for electronic donation. It is an automatic transfer program which allows you to make contributions without writing checks.

What is the advantage of e-donations?

It saves time! It saves work! It simplifies your life! You also help the organization stabilize its budget and save $.

Is text to give an option?
Yes, There are two ways to give – both are handled through Vanco, our existing giving website. These give the options of using a mobile app or using a text to give from your cell phone. GivePlus Mobile App is available through the app store and Google Play.

For the GivePlus mobile app, you will be prompted to find our church “Our Father’s House”. Make sure it is ours, there is another one with the same name. Once selected, it becomes your home church. The next time you open the app, the church’s name will already be displayed. You can create an account or use your Vanco login id and password. Select the fund, the frequency, and the amount, and add. You can add multiple funds and amounts. When done, select “Give Now” right arrow at top. Select donation type. You can donate by bank account transfer or debit/credit card. If using credit card, a fee is assessed. If you would like to help pay processing fees, check the box to add fee amount to your donation. Select “Complete Donation”, then “Done”. A receipt will be emailed to you. Here is a video from Vanco for more instructions.

For text to give, Text number for Our Father’s House: 833-948-2150 Enter as a contact for ease of use. First time users – after entering value of gift, you will be taken to Vanco’s website to enter in name, address, and method of payment(s). This will be saved on Vanco’s website and not on your phone. You can only use a debit or credit card and not your bank account information. Minimum amount is $3.00. Enter size of gift such as 25 Send. A text will be received from Vanco thanking you for the gift. Additionally, instructions on choosing a one time gift or reoccurring donation will be sent. Members receive immediate confirmation via text and email that their donation was received. After a text donation has been processed, it appears on the member’s credit card or bank statement. Normal text messaging fees from their cell phone carriers may apply. Donations are processed using the payment method specified in the member’s online profile. Phone carriers handle only the text message, never any financial information.

When will my donation be deducted from my account?
Usually within 48 hours for ACH (checking or savings account donations). If you choose to give on a regular monthly basis automatically, you can designate when the donation should be processed, weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly.

What about overdraft or insufficient funds costs?
You will agree to pay a fee of $35 if your transaction fails due to Insufficient Funds in your account. Please be sure enough money is available in your account each month.

Can anyone who works at the church see my account number?
No. No one at the church has access to your account/credit/debit card numbers. Only a few employees at VANCO have access to this info.
Can I contribute to different funds and special offerings, and have those all withdrawn from my account at different frequencies?
You can set up to contribute to different funds at different frequencies; HOWEVER, you will have to do each one separately. There is no way possible to split a single transaction into different amounts and frequencies. When you have completed giving to one fund for a certain frequency, simply go back in to complete another. You will receive separate e-receipts for each.

Will I get a statement of everything I gave online?
You will receive a statement from OFH at the end of January of each new year with all your donation information (online and in person). You may also print out a statement from the e-donations site for all transactions that were made online through e-donations, using the time period you designate. This can be used for tax purposes.

Can I look up all my donations online, even those that I gave while at church?
No. The only transactions you can view online are the ones that were completed online. Please contact our church office for complete donation information.

What payment frequencies are available?
You can make a one-time donation, or schedule weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or even yearly. Or you can also choose these frequencies on your own when completing your e-donations info on the site. You also limit the time period for your automatic deductions. 

What if I try it and don’t like it?
You can cancel your automatic deductions anytime via the e-donations website.

What do I do if I forget my username or password?
If you forget your password, click on the “forgot email or password” link. If you cannot remember your password, you will need to follow the process for resetting a new password. Please enter your email address and click on "Reset Password". You will receive an email with a temporary password and instructions for resetting your password. If you cannot remember your email address, contact Our Father's House at 301-862-9200.

If I do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight?
You may either make a notation in your check register at the time of the transaction, or you can make the notation at the time that an email is sent to you acknowledging your contribution. If you choose to contribute at regular automatic intervals, you can easily make the notations for the entire length of time that you are contributing all at once.

What can I use to put into the collection basket when it comes around to me?
You may print out your acknowledgement page or the email that you receive when your transaction is processed. You will see that the information is inside an envelope shape, this is to make it easy for you to cut it out and put it in the collection plate.
Without a cancelled check, how can I prove I made my contribution?
You have the option of printing or saving either the payment acknowledgement page, or the emailed acknowledgements. In addition, your bank statement shows an itemized list of electronic transfers. Your organization also has proof of your donation. Any of these can prove your contribution.

Are electronic donations risky?
Electronic donations are less risky than check contributions. They cannot be lost, stolen or destroyed in the mail. You may choose in your profile to turn off account number save. With this option, you will have to enter your account number each time a transaction is made, but it will never automatically show on the page.

What if I change bank accounts?
Update the information at the e-donations site under the section “online profile”. If you have set up recurring transactions and you do not update your account information, you may be deactivated until you update your info. This is to prevent your account from being declined over and over.

How much do e-donations cost?
It costs you nothing and saves you time. The organization pays nominal transaction fees for ACH checking withdrawals. However, all debit or credit card donations will cost the church a 3% fee on the total donation. We encourage you to use the ACH direct debit from checking to minimize the fees.   
Or you can contribute an extra 3% to cover the transaction fees for debit/credit cards.
